Getting to know a player matters as much as getting to know her game. Our team works with girls and their families to create a place where they can learn, ask questions and enjoy their football.
FOUNDER & HEAD COACH
Dean Parkinson
Helping each player understand her game and find her next step.
Dean created STAR to give girls more individual attention and a clear focus for their football. He starts by listening to what each player enjoys, what she finds difficult and what she wants to achieve.
His seven years of coaching experience span women’s football, youth football, individual development and goalkeeper coaching. He is also Head Coach of Staplegrove Ladies. His coaching connects technical detail with the decisions players face in matches.
A friendly face for players and families, on and off the pitch.
Becky supports STAR sessions and helps coach younger players, with a focus on group activities, confidence and helping newcomers settle in. She also plays for Staplegrove Ladies.
As Player Welfare Officer, Becky listens to players’ concerns and helps them communicate what they need. She draws on her experience as a parent of children with special educational needs, offering patience, reassurance and time to settle in.
Building the foundations for players to feel confident with the ball.
Louise brings ten years of experience in youth and girls’ football, including coaching at Staplegrove Youth FC, Hamilton FC and Wellington FC. At STAR she works with groups and individual players, particularly younger girls.
Her sessions develop ball control, first touch, passing and movement through clear, manageable activities. Louise gives players time to practise, ask questions and grow in confidence.
